With this I'm not saying that's it's not fun or it's not supposed to be fun for these reasons, it would just be stupid to say so. Snipers get some weird fancy scopes that feel mostly out of place, everyone else goes around with smgs and semiautos like they were the standard. The gameplay shows a pretty much reskinned Battlefield 3-4-HL with mostly the same kind of combat. ![]() Maybe I am thinking too much and looking too much into it, but you know, mini rant )Įver since I heard "Seven nation army" being played during the reveal trailer I've thought of Battlefield 1 as anything but a serious WW1 shooter. In ww2, these fast paced tide of War was more present, making most hollywoodization somewhat acceptable, but in a stalemate like ww1, it is just sad to think that will be the impression people with no knowledge of the war will get. I just think these inaccuracies trivializes the tragedy that happened. At least in ww2 many attacks did achieve something, or there are interesting strategies and tactics that went on, but in ww1, people had close to none, resulting in marching into enemy machine gun fire. I just started watching the great War channel on YouTube, and learning the useless waste of life from incompetence of generals and complete lack of understanding of modern warfare is nothing to be compared with ww2. Yes the game is not done, and it was just a showcase, but at least on the aspect of weapon, if that is the showcase, I don't have much hope for better weapon accuracies. And kind of completely omitting this aspect isn't doing justice for the whole waste of life that happened back then. The stupid hollywoodization is something I'm quite critical of.īecause something happened during this war, it was a war when people gave their life for the transition of napoleonic warfare to modern warfare. I do understand what fun means, and I don't have much problem with moderate inaccuracies like the strange scopes or something, but everybody running around with mp18 and experimental semi automatic rifles that were produced in 10s or less number, does bother me. Must say though, the gameplay footage so far is a bit outrageously inaccurate. So the game is a must play for those looking for something a little more authentic for their WW1 Shooter!Īverage grade internationally: 56.00% Gamerankings.Didn't hear any competitive comparison so far but sounds good. M2H has done a really good job with “Verdun”. So if you’re looking for an authentic WW1 shooter on PS4, then give “Verdun” a fair chance. The only downside is the community size, but hopefully it will grow over time. As holding positions and attacking works perfectly! Here´s a free pro-tip though, team work is a must when it comes to winning games (you won´t win any battles on your own in “Verdun”). Furthermore, the game truly nails the feeling of trench warfare. ![]() Nevertheless, “Verdun” is still a really good game with no doubt. Well, if death is their definition of fun, then hell yeah! Join the war they said, it’ll be fun, they said. You can also create squads (which is a good idea if you intend to stay alive, you are also awarded more XP for working together), and teamwork is a must when it comes to taking enemy trenches. For example, the heavy gunner must deploy his Bipod to be able to fire. There are four classes to play as, all of which are specialized in their own weaponry (each one has their own pros and cons). So whether you’re creeping through the trenches and or charging over the walls, don´t get too cocky, as there is a bullet out there with your name on it. As one or two shots will kill you instantly (which hypes up the tension). The gameplay is pretty simple, but when it comes to taking damage, don’t expect to soak up bullets. Because you can see that a lot of hard work has been put into this game, and it would be a great shame if the servers become baron. Even so, I still hope “Verdun” will find a strong community overtime. The only thing that holds “Verdun” back is the online community, while playing there was less than a thousand players and since launch day that has dwindled (possibly due to the Battlefield beta). There’s also a Co-Op survival mode where you defend a trench from oncoming enemies. So basically both sides fight to take over the enemies trenches, which makes for some amazing moments as you and your team charge across no man’s land dodging on coming fire to take the trench ahead. ![]() “Verdun” has plenty of game modes, but the main one consists of a turn-base attack and defend. ![]() Keep your enemies close, but your weapon (s) even closer.
